Humans & Animals

Humans are animals,
But animals are not humans.
We eat, sleep, drink, walk, hunt, communicate and interact
Just like animals do.
Humans have power in their own ways.
They create, destroy, harm, argue and complain
While animals cannot really do these things.
Animals tend to follow their instincts a lot more than humans do.
They do not tend to over-think a situation or stress out about issues
Just like humans tend to do.
Animals are free, for the most part, if they are wild.
Once they set their mind to something, like while hunting, they just do it.
No questions asked, ever.
Likewise, animals do not take advantage of their societies
And humans do.
But in the end,
Humans and animals can love and hate, and sometimes appreciate
Those who protect them from any harm.
That is why they are the same, yet different.
Because Humans are animals,
But animals are not humans.

  1. Your poem is very well written! All the grammar is correct and your poem flowed very nicely. I like how you clearly show the contrasts between humans and animals. I agree with you that humans are animals. However, I have to disagree with some points you made. All the flaws you pointed out that humans and human society have can be applied to animals also. So, technically, animals are “human” too. There is no difference between us. Humans just like to think that way.

  2. Hey kenya! Just like to say good job on your commentary was great. First off I would like to say I like how we both had really said both animal and humans are relatively the same in distinct ways. we all have our own opinions about the topic and its understandable if people dont agree or disagree once in a while. The overall topic was very controversial so anythig could have been said, like jennifer had said i also disagree with some of the things said, because humans are animals. Overall I really liked your commentary it was very interesting to read and see all the things my classmates have to say. Good Job! -Calvin Roeun
