The poem we read today in class, "Nineteen," really frustrated me because of the terrible ending. It was more of a tragic love story with a very unfortunate ending. A guy desperately loved a classmate, but neither of them ever had the courage to confront each other, which really annoyed me.
I wonder why the narrator chickened out and kept his love locked away for all of those years. He could have missed out on the love of his life and never had known it. I also wonder why the girl didn't confront the narrator either. Maybe there was a stronger force that prevented them from becoming more than strangers.
