My journey to becoming a great reader began in my first grade year,
along with several other classmates. Before I could read, however, I would
simply describe the colorful pictures on the pages of the books. Soon enough
reading was as easy as walking.
As I grew up, I began to explore more books and developed an interest in
reading fictional, supernatural books. This led to a passion for reading
throughout my years in primary school. I cannot say I have a favorite author
since I do not remember many of the books I read at that age. Throughout middle
school I was required to read certain books, and soon enough I began to dislike
reading.
Reading is not only a way to understand someone's
thoughts, but also to connect with the author and want to learn more about
them, which is why I think people read. In order to call yourself a reader, you
must be fond of the millions of books written and want to learn more about
their authors. To be a good reader, you must want to read and want to learn. I
would sometimes consider myself a reader, but definitely not a very good
reader, since I read when required, not when I choose to.
I think I also had the love/hate relationship with reading too. People really need to understand that forcing a book on us won't make us want to read more because what kind of logic is that really? I agree with your statement that in order to be a reader you must be really fond of books of the million that are written. Your descriptions were really good!
